An evaporator coil is one of two main parts of an air conditioning or heating system. Evaporator coils can be located within the cabinet of an air handler (commonly known as an A-Coil) or as a stand-alone unit. They can come uncased or with a protective case, or cabinet (known as a cased coil).
Cased coils are most commonly seen in gas heating or dual fuel central AC systems which utilize a furnace to heat and move air throughout the home. They are installed at the supply end of the furnace which is used to deliver the conditioned air throughout the ductwork. The coils become cold and remove humidity as the air from inside the house passes over it through the furnace.
Cased evaporator coils come in various configurations:
The size of your evaporator coil can have a significant impact on the efficiency and SEER rating of your system. Always make sure to check all options available to you or speak to one of our knowledgeable customer service representatives to help find the right match for your needs.
