The Goodman / Amana Replacement Dual Round Capacitors are like short-term batteries. They send an electrical "jolt" to start up a motor or a regular series of "jolts" to keep the motor working. In HVAC, capacitors work with the compressor motor, the blower motor and the outdoor fan. A "dual-round" capacitor is both a start and run capcitor in one.
